+1, anybody have the part number for the replacement relay?

Also, anyone made a mod to run the DRL's with the head lights at the same time?

My local dealer replaced both my headlights yesterday, out of warrentee, but I keep bugging "Toyota Care", and local dealer rep. Toyota decided to replace.

You need to replace your flasher with a denso 12v flasher (toyota part )# 81980-02030 and you also have to remove a Y shaped jumper(wire) and insert a junction block (toyota part) # 82671-30360. put it back together and your in bussiness. DRL`s are Disabled.

I now believe that the melting lights depend on several factors.
    1. I live in Georgia, it was a long hot summer last year, I drive during the day, about 60 miles a day during hot conditions. My '09 has 48k miles.
    2. Some people dirve with their headlights on all the time, thus no DRLs are on.

I think Toyota was convince when I showed them that even the bulb sockets showed signs of over heating. (turning dark brown).

I was considering adding these to my truck, but now that I've seen this I wonder. Did anyone ever get all of the members with the burning/cracking lens problem to post up locations to see if it had to do with climate ? Perhaps it's as simple as the ones in northern/cooler climates seem to be fine ,whereas the ones in southern/warmer climates are blistering and cracking ?:notsure:

Swapped bulbs out for 3057A (which is the amber bulb) according to the package they are a couple of watts less than the originals. May take a look at turning off the DTRLs.

Did this also a couple months back. Though they don't get near as hot, they do not last very long either. I've already had to replace one whereas I never had to replace the 4057s in over a year (plus however long they were installed when I purchased my taco). With that said, I think I can drop $5 on the 3057s every few months to avoid the ugly melting lens look.

Mine are bubbling/melting. Went to the dealer today and they say that it's occurring only in the '09's (they fixed the problem with a new design headlamp assembly with the 2010 model year.) While I was waiting at the dealer, I walked their lot and found two '09's in their used section with the same trouble.

The dealer is "trying" to work something out for me because to replace the pair, with labor/tax etc, is going to be almost $1000. I'd be interested in the relay as well (I may just clip the wire in the harness though.)

Does someone have a link to a website for the first part number? Some sites I am getting a turn signal. Maybe I am missing something.

I have a 2010 with 53000 miles. Bought in brand new. Live in Georgia. Had to change front passenger DRL bulb out today. It burnt out. While changing out bulb, noticed the driver side lense is discolored and melted while the passenger side is beginning to melt. I'm going to check to see if the dealer will fix it but I don't have my hopes up.

    Too few to list.
Doubt it, according to the TSB you have to be under the 3yr/36K miles warranty for them to fix it which is BS as it shouldn't be melting and cracking in the first place as they were never designed to be DRL. I suggest you file a complaint with NHTSA if they don't fix it.

My Tacoma is out of factory warranty and headlights are excluded from the Platinum Service agreement so i called Toyota Corporate about the melting DRL issue.
They offered me to cover the part price(approx. $600) and i would cover the labor to replace them and that would be $250 at the dealer.
Good deal or not? Would you do it or not?
