Deflecta-Shield narrow low profile box for a midsize truck

At the time I bought this they only made the compact and full size in black.

I'm looking into getting a truck box too. How do you guys have yours mounted? Bolted through the bed rails? Looks to me like that would be hard to get a nut on the underside. How did you do it? Thanks!

for the newer tacomas....alot of guys have used j-hooks and attached them thru the side rails. on mine.,.........i used large self tapping screws and it has worked fine. the j-hooks are the way to go in your case though, as you dont have to drill a hole or make a hole in your bed caps, and its pretty easy too.

I have the UWS Lo-Pro black box too. I mounted mine through the top of the bed sides with 3/8" self-tapping bolts. The supplier who sold me the box provided them. Make sure you put something between the rails and the box. They have a foam strip in the box in the hardware bag. It'll keep the squeak out. Also, if you are gonna blow a self-tapper through, don't crank the hell out of it. Just snug and then back it off a smidge. You'll know when. That bed rail needs to move with expansion. If you crank it down like you're tieing up a battleship, the rails will buckle behind the box. It ain't a pretty sight.

Trail Boss Brand. Leaves the sides and bottom accessable for long objects such as shovels, hoes, etc. Dual gas pistons inside to lift and hold. Attached via J-hooks to rail slots. Works for me.

Husky box

Husky box will work but its not a perfect fit. I would recommend a different brand box.

I thought mine fit perfect. I didnt want a box that went all the way to the floor of the bed, so I can still use the bed to carry sheets of wood.

Two J bolts on each side plus a bolt and washer at the back on each side. By using six attachments total nothing has to be super tight.
