Look at it another way........another tank of gas & a new gas tank are cheaper than another engine if asshats put something in it that blows it....and a lot easier to swap.

    +1

Was all into that in the 70s.
Haven't had a locking cap on any vehicle since the late 80s and have never had a problem.

If you have a locking cap or an anti-siphon fillpipe, the bogeys will simply knife a hole into the bottom of your PLASTIC FUEL TANK... fill their 5-gallon bucket, and let the rest of your tank run on the ground.

At least when they were siphoning the tanks, they'd leave you with the fuel they couldn't carry away.

i prefer one because it prevents tampering, lot of stupid people in the world that do stupid things just for shits and giggles, i'm pretty sure if u wanted these locking caps off, u just gotta jam it with a screwdriver and twist it off

I've had my Stant since the truck was new and no issues thus far, although it does seem somewhat flimsy.

It's better to have a locking cap than nothing...if you have a nice built up truck who knows, someone who might not like Toyota might try to put something in your gas. A locking cap can be broken but it might deter a troublemaker. And, if someone does break the cap, it will be obvious what happened if your truck starts to run funny.

Been using a Murray for about 3 or four months now. No issues or CEL.

Reason is that there seem to be a lot of asshole kids and just plain haters around here. Would prefer a lockin gas door, but no one's modded one up yet and i'm too yellow to try.

I bought mine from the dealer and after non stop CEL codes for it I ditched it, Also the key was a Bitch to get working with it and only went in 1 way.. very awkward to use.

I say if you do buy one only use it when you need to and swap to stock for all other times.

Had one of these for my old Trooper years ago. Found that it was VERY easy to figure out the code: my step-brother figured it out in less than 2 minutes when I forgot to give him the code so that he could use the Trooper!

    In the trash it went!

Well, those will help ensure it doesn't happen a second time, that's for sure. The people prone to perform these types of activities aren't exactly the types of folks who think things through and weigh consequences of their actions, however.

Heck, there are some people who would probably attempt to steal your gas, then, when that doesn't work, pour something into your gas tank for just having the nerve to prevent them from stealing it! How dare you!?!?

I got the Murray locking gas cap..... I had the Stant one but it felt cheap and the lock itself would get stuck...... The murray one is OEM quality and feels solid
