Will the AC Pulley make a noise? Whenever I have the AC on you can really hear the noise and it comes from the drivers side.

I don't know about 2nd generation tacomas, but on the 1st generation tacomas the A/C pulley is to the passenger side.

It's on the driver's side bottom on 2nd gen.

Pull the belt and spin it by hand.

I'm new to mechanics so how do you get the belt off?

No offense, but if you don't know I would not advise you do this alone. It's rather simple but misalignment or any slip ups and you could pinch the shit out of your hand or damage something. If you're still interested, the information is out there.

    Cool, good luck :)

Ordered from Rock Auto but needed the pulley fixed for this weekend, so I went to Napa and picked up the gates pulley there for 45 something, but I'll probably need to take it back soon. ;)

Also got a new gates belt. Sounds good as new. Threw the stock belt in the box as a spare, although it seemed in very good shape.

Really all serpentine systems are nearly the same so if you can find someone who has changed a belt before on any serpentine system just have them check it over with you. Takes seriously less than 20 minutes.

Had some extra time so I took my idler over to Eric's shop to press the bearing out of the idler. What I found was a lot of dirt and crud underneath the seal and in the bearings. After I cleaned it the races and ball bearings looked good so I re-packed it with sta-lube moly grease. Seated the seals and cleaned it up and then took some pictures. I'll bug Eric to let me use his press again and press it back in, then throw it in the bed box as a spare.
