Hi I have a 2011 Toyota Tacoma Trd sport long bed
Every time I go down a hill from stop. My truck will not shift into the 5th gear until I am on a flat straight stretch. It will rev above 2000 rpm. Then when I hit a flat straight spot on the road it will shift into od. Also when I'm going down a hill I hit the brake pedal the truck will shift down a gear and upshift back when the hill is finished. Is this normal or should I get it checked out. Pls let me know thanks

My truck behaves the same. I like it as it saves transmission wear shifting in and out of 5th on uphills and brake wear as well as reducing onset of fade going downhill.

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
Any time you hit the brake, the torque converter will unlock.

I didn't think it was an issue? Isn't it just DAC?

OP... It's called engine braking and is completly normal.

DAC is for going down extreme angles while offroading and can only be used in 4L.

Cannot fix something that is not broken.

All vehicles unlock convertors when the engine load is enough and downshift as well if the needed to due to hills or engine load.

This is very apparent around 45-50 mph on most vehicles.

As for downshift on decel all autos do this as well, some more apparent than others, higher geared vehicles it will be a bit more noticeable.
