Sleeping platform built!!!

So last week I mentioned to my bro inlaw that I wanted to build a sleeping platform in the back of the truck so that I can do some camping. I said that I didn't know where to start and how the design would be. So we struck a deal.......he would build it for me, but I pay for materials, I would have to finish it up (i.e. carpet it), and that he could also borrow it once in awhile to do some camping with the kids.

Of course I said Heck Yeah! This took him probably a good 6hrs from design to completion. Sure heck would have taken me two or three times as long On to the pics!!!

That looks great. Any thought on how much it weighs?? Can you post a little more about where you got the wood and est cost? I'm looking to put one together this week and I like your design.

No doubt. I thought it was going to be some simple design but he went all out. Plus it is easily removable too!

 

3/4 plywood, 2x10 & 2x8 from Home Depot. Total weight added I guess would be around 75lbs as the materials were pretty heavy duty.

As for the cost, materials was about $60. The killer part was the labor where it probably took about 6hrs.

I posted this on ExPo in 2010 (Easy Sleeping Platform) and last year in 1st Gen on this site (Sleeping Platform & Dog) and so far, everybody seems to like it.

Its fast, sturdy and best of all CHEAP!
