What was the weight of the factory bumper and crush bar you took off? 20 lbs or so?

Hey guys, I'm trying to consolidate pictures for all bumpers. Essentially trying to streamline the bumper buying process by not having to flip through 69+ pages of posts. Please pop over to this thread and post your bumpers. I'm organizing them alphabetically, and front and rear. Thanks for the help!

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...pictures-help-me-consolidate-bumper-pics.html

Also, if any bumper manufacturers see this, feel free to add any comments, they will be added in a note by the product.

yeah that is what I and several other members have done, had everything ready pics and all, just needs to copy and paste. He responded once saying he would add it. Then here we are almost a year later with nothing, then another member pmed him. But no biggie. We need to just have a mod change the OP to someone else that will maintain it and so on and so on.

I'm just trying to make a thread that has one post for all bumpers. I have the time to keep updating it. More or less help comparing bumpers for when people are looking to purchase. Essentially a bumper buying guide.

I am trying to weigh the pros/cons of a hybrid vs a plate bumper. I understand they look different, the hybrid is lighter weight, and I am guessing the full plate bumper provides more protection. Can I get some input from you all on why you chose a hybrid or a plate bumper?

Hey sorry if, my response in the other thread sounded or came off rude in anyway, not my intention at all. Some times in vendor threads the purpose, in that case a "group buy" can get way off track. Since this was the perfect forum for that question I suggested this one. Not sure if you've checked back there but he answered your question in his GB thread. IMO, people will purchase one or the other based on personal aesthetic preference. Eddy summed up his answer nicely. In the end it boils down to what you like and what you'll use it for. Good luck with your decision, either way its a win,win he makes great products from what I've seen and read on TW.

A plate bumper is a hybrid with the open sections plated. Weight is the difference. Strength can be a difference. The look is the deciding factor. Buy which one you like for looks and you will never know the difference between the one you don't have. Haha

It didn't come off rude at all. I appreciate you pointing me here. I did get to see Eddy's response which was helpful. Thanks for the responses everyone. Based on Eddy's response a plate bumper is better for mowing down trees lol. Being in WY there are a lot of animals on the road that I would like to bounce off my bumper if hit. I also like rolling over some rocks to get to where I’m going.

Some are saying that it's mostly an aesthetic thing. Is the hybrid about the same weight as the aluminum? I didn't see the weight of the hybrid listed. Any opinions on if the hybrid is as tough as or tougher than the aluminum plate?

That's my way of thinking too, need to remember that your going to pay more for the weight savings. Most aluminum bumpers are $200-300 more than their steel counterpart. Hence my problem, I'm still saving for it.

It might be time consuming, but ive done it and it's very informative. Skim through Eddy's whole bumper thread. Not very far back from the end he outline the weights of each of his bumpers for comparisons. The whole thing is full of good information. The relentless bumper thread is pretty good too. A bunch of guys have said it in here and in his GB thread, his prices are some of the cheapest for a A+ quality bumper no matter which kind your interested in. In this thread I've heard of quite a few animal strikes and they all seem to fair very well. For that reason alone as well as being and off roader the steel plate might be your best option.
