Unlock both doors with FOB

Hey Ive done some searching including looking through the TIS system cant find it anywhere, have you guys figured out how to get both doors to unlock on one click with the keyfob.

I know on my sti it was a simple wire change and on my girls scion I did it with Techstream... but on a 2010 I cant seem to find out how they are doing it.

 

just push the button twice. i find it quit hard myself to exert that extra engery on pushin it twice but that is the only way.

 

Hitting it that one extra time is so damn hard though!

 

oh common guys, its not that its any harder to do, its just that 99% of the time I forget to hit it twice to let my passenger in, why must you guys always post up smart ass shit for every question?

 

Thank you, atleast I know its not been done yet now. I gotta look into wiring diagrams and see if I can just tie the two locks together, might be a simple crimp job like it was on the sti.

Sometimes I push my remote 3 times just to burn extra calories.

 

I'm with you OP- I not so lazy as to hit the button twice, but I could do without the 4 beeps- thats a bit annoying

 

it really gets the heart rate up!

 

+1... by only unlocking my door, it also keeps my tailgate locked


If you really had to though, I bet you could bridge the wires under the drivers kick panel to the passengers side door. Each door has its own output from the junction box though so maybe you might just want to bridge the front door pulses only? I really wouldn't do any more than that though, you risk feeding current back into the controller box that way unless you throw a diode inline. There might not be enough power from a single pulse to operate both doors as well. Its a risky operation.


EDIT: disregard the front and rear comments, I was thinking 4 door.

 

Has it been that way since '05, or just with the newer models?

The remote for my '07 Jeep had to be pushed twice to unlock the passenger door from the factory, but there was a way to reprogram it to unlock both at once...not so on my '05 Taco?

get your passernger a control too. like that you each just press it once. problem solved.

 

I agree with the OP I don't mind pushing it twice but I usually don't and then have to go back to the other side and hit the door lock button to get some thing out of the passenger side (I live in the wilds of Maine I never take my keys out). My VW's controllers are accessible from the OBD2 connection so there is a lot of stuff I can change the door locks being one. But I'm thinking the Toyota's controllers are not on a can buss, too bad changing stuff on a Taco could be a lot of fun with software.

 

Ever since I had my viper alarm system installed with window roll up module not only to all doors unlock with the one touch of the unlock button of the viper remote I now have one touch roll up/down of the front windows both of which I really like having, so there is at least one way to do it.

 

Yea I know the 11 Scions with smartkeys are doable via techstream as I just did my girls yesterday while hunting to do mine. when its gets cooler (110) outside now I am gonna go play with some wiring... I think i found it but want to wait till it cools off outside before i start pulling it apart.

 

I just got back from the ER because I strained my thumb pushing the button twice! Be careful out there folks.

Seriously though: I, too, thought about cross tying it with the driver side door but don't know what the pulse strength would be either. Maybe you could use a multi-meter to see what it is when not crossed, and then see what it is when cross tied.

 

My after market python alarm system allows me to use the Aux button to unlock all the doors with one push. Aux 2 allows me to roll up all the windows at once or down!!
Go aftermarket and the problem is solved!
