Flat black vinyl scoop covers coming soon. I just finish the lip cover last night. Once I get the template down I can add the TRD logo in the side or V6 VVT or what ever else you want. Let me know if your interested.

put a 8 inch wide strip of tint on the bottom of the windshield? Some states have different laws on this though - that's what I thought about doing.

Rob ( 2xtreme ) is making me a flat black vinyl strip for the lip at the back of the hood. He sent me a picture of it and it looks good, I'm sure it will work well.

I'll post some pics when I get it installed, if i can figure how to do that. I may have to get my teenager to help me :D

The best way to apply is to get a spray bottle full of water (some people say to add a drop of dish soap to the water but I’m always afraid it will prevent the glue from sticking as well) and a role of masking tape.

First clean the hood top and bottom. Don’t use anything waxy like spray detailer. Window cleaner works well. Make sure you clean the back side and edges so you can roll the extra under.

Find the center of the strip and the center of the hood. Use a small piece of masking tape on the hood just forward of the ridge. Mark the tape with a sharpie so you know where the center is.

The vinyl strip will have a backing paper and a transfer paper. Mark the transfer paper at the center of the strip. Do this before you remove the backing.

Spray the top down with water. You can even use a garden hose if you need to. The water will help to position the strip.

Pull off the backing but only halfway. A second set of hands and a step stool helps. Line up the front edge with the center marks and the peak of the ridge. Line up the curve along the front edge and lightly tack it down.

Remove the backing on the other side and line it up along the ridge. if there are large wrinkles or folds then you may need to reposition one side or another.

The vinyl will stretch so be careful not to pull it to much and change the shape.

Once you have the front edge lined up and there are no major folds slowly press the rest of the vinyl down rolling the back edge under the hood.

Use the masking tape roll as a squeegee removing any bubbles, wrinkles or folds.

It may take a few attempts to get it just right. The vinyl is forgiving but it has its limits so don’t pull on it to much and limit the number of times you put it down and pull it up.

Whatever you do don’t let the sticky side touch itself.

Finally pull the transfer paper off and inspect for any more bubbles.

The vinyl is 5 Year vinyl so it should last for a long time but it will come off with a hair dryer and some patience.

    Good Luck!

I had my first experience of driving into "heavy-duty" sunset yesterday.
It was annoyingly distracting and I had the visor down and one hand up to block the reflection, all the while thinking of this thread.
This is what I noticed. On the scoop, there were 2 small reflections, 1 at the curve up and 1 where it rounds over. More disturbing was the big reflection, 8 inches to the left on the flat of the hood. So unless the "flat" vinyl covered the entire hood, there would still be an issue.

Now don't get me wrong, I think the flat vinyl cover for the scoop would look cool...reminiscent of a Mopar "Shaker hood scoop". I agree with the badging of VVT...maybe "4.0" rather than V6.

Im sure I could come up with a graphic for the hood that would meet both "form" and "function". Ill see what I can come up with. as for the shaker hood look that's what I was thinking. I can do 4.0 VVT easy enough. I can cut the letters out and the text would be body colored or cut a separate decal in silver, white, red or blue.

I also have gotten the "sunset" blinding, on a couple of occasions. It's actually pretty doggone irritating. But, it does look good, when the sun is not blinding your from seeing it. ;)

    Just the basics
I like the strip at the back of the hood. I too have experienced the sun reflection off the tapered part.
No hoodscoop here so I don't need to worry about that.
