also for reference, the rear windows (on a 09+ at least) meter at 27% stock, the fronts of all years meter at 77%.

Front total VLT = .77*aftermarket tint
Rear total VLT = .27*aftermarket tint

Common VLT levels that will match:

20% Front (.77*.2 = .15) 50% Rear (.27*.5 = .14)

35% Front (.77*.35 = .27) 0% Rear (.27)

15% Front (.77*.15 = .12) 40% Rear (.27*.4 = .11)

5% Front (.77*.05 = .04) 15% Rear (.27*.15 = .04

Now THAT seems right. I should have gone with 35%

I took it to a local shop that I've never gone to. But a friend of mine got a job there and I figured I give it a shot. They said "Oh yea, factory tint is almost always 20%, we'll put 20." When I got it back it was wayyy too dark. But tint does get lighter as it drys and ages. So I figured I'd wait. But, its still darker.

I don't think you're ever going to get a "perfect" match to the factory tint. 35% might be a tad lighter, but 20% might be a tad darker. I mean a butt hair either way........

I think my 35% is really good, and I'd rather it be a smidge lighter than darker. 35% is pretty dark at night. I wouldn't want it any darker.

Turned out great. Looks like it came from the factory. The guy that does all my tinting work does an excellent job. SunGuard tint has a lifetime warranty, never had to use it in the 10 years he's been doing my work. ( atintofclass.com. )

30 up front 15 rear windows- I wanted to be legal, but liked it darker in the rear.
I believe even if you go darker then legal on the front, but go a shade or two darker with the rears, the cops will see the two shades and it may appear legal from a distance.

i agree. in TN itís 35%. right now i think iím just going to do 20% on the front. i donít fill i could go much darker on the back and see good in my drive way. if you look back a page. you can see how dark it is. you see the landscaping lights. but you canít see my truck on the other side of them or the tree right next to the one on the far right.
