Looks good from a distance, serves no purpose other than looks, don't like the sun glare and the lack of visibility (seemed way huge when I got the truck...don't notice it much anymore). Can take it or leave it. Would rather Toyota had left the scoop off and given us bigger tires...then again, I also liked the Blacked Out door handles on the Pre-production Pro's.

Well...I don't usually have the LEDs scanning or blinking while I'm driving but I have them on constantly whenever the parking lights are on. I've been driving around with them on at night for well over a year now and haven't been stopped once. The same is true for the LED strips behind the grill and the ones that I now have inside the headlights (I used to have them outside).

The way I look at it is they are a legal color for the front of the truck (Amber) and are essentially running or marker lights like you see on tractor trailers. BTW, cops here are ticket happy. I did have one cop who was directing traffic say one thing though...He said "nice truck" :D

I know this is an old thread but couldn't help myself. Toyota has been putting fake leaf springs and frames on for years so a non functional scoop isn't a stretch.

I looked online to try to find something I really liked but in the end I bought some Chinese crap for $30 that I tore apart and modified to do exactly what I wanted it to do.

Actually the access cabs in Nova Scotia were unavailable in Nova Scotia when I bought mine. I bought the truck through a broker. It came from North Carolina and the scoop was one of the things I wanted. So up here in Nova Scotia I see very few Tacoma Access Cabs with a scoop. That was the first thing the local dealer picked up on. "Is that a US truck?"

I wonder what would happen if a person drilled a bunch of holes in the front of the hood scoop and then install a mesh over the holes... wouldn't that make it be functional?

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
Already been done (myself included). Reinstalled the stock mesh after removing the plastic backing. All I have seen that it did was allow heat to escape the hood when sitting still.

I've thought about switching mine to the scoop. I think it looks nice.

I am waiting on my C4 fab brackets that allow me to put an LED bar in the slot. Now that's cool

I wish I had no scoop. Just takes away visibility.

There is a hood scoop hood trade thread where you could find a member that wants a scoop and will trade you his non-scoop hood for yours.
