New member. Currently own a Tundra V8, don't need the size nor the fuel bill anymore. Ordered an 09 Tacoma A/C 4x4 with 4cyl manual trans. Looking for real world mpg numbers from owners. Thanks!

I have that exact truck, except mine is an 08. I get 21 mpg in mixed driving. I have not taken it on a long trip yet, so I don't know the hwy mpg.

Welcome. I recently traded my 03 4cyl man trans for an 09 6cyl auto. I regularly got 20-22 mixed driving and 25-26 on highway trips with my old truck. The 4cyl always ran good for me but did slow down on very large hills. I actually hated to trade it.

That's with the 4.0L though, right? Didn't think DCs could be had with the 2.7L. He was asking about the 2.7L.

DC's are the 4.0l ....with my 09 I regularly get 20 running the dirt roads all day and have gotten 22-23 on the highway running about 72-73. I use a scan gauge II to monitor and do the math as well at fill up.

We've got a 08 Access Cab 2.7L 4x4 5 speed. I've removed the secondary air filter and put on a generic flowmaster-type muffler. It averages just over 22mpg with about 75% highway/25% city driving. It's got about 14,000 miles on it.

I have 4 cyl 4x4 SR5 09 and I just put in my first milage on another post in here.

I got 779 klms (484 miles) doing mostly highway...before the low fuel warning...and on my city only, I'm at 300 klms (184 miles) on 1/2 a tank so far. Many people here say that their milage improves in the first 5,000 to 15,000 miles...big plus!

I purposely bought this Tacoma for the milage. I compared it with the ranger and colorado/canyon and found this to be at the top for economy and the top for resale! Best of both worlds.

Power isn't as good as the V6 versions but as good or better than the other 4 cyl's I test drove. For me 4x4 is just a bonus but better milage can be had with the 4x2 model.

All in all I'm pretty happy with this truck!

I have the same truck you ordered. 1730 miles so far with an average 23.7 mpg. Mixed driving with about 20% at interstate speeds. I have heard that after the 5000 mile oil change when you reset the computer it will get even better mileage. I hope this happens with my truck!

I had an 07 access cab 4x4 2.7 5 speed and easily got 400 miles on a tank of gas before the fuel light came on.
