Any ideas for removing rattle can paint off rims?

Painted my rims black a while back and just had the tires changed and the machine scuffed the hellllll out of the spray paint, it didnt scratch down to the brushed chrome surface of the OR stock wheels that i have but im tired of the black and dont want to repaint.

Anyone have any suggestions for removing spray paint from the rims? thanks so much

I guess if you painted over the stock OR TRD Rims, and did not sand the surface prior to painting, you could try any of the "goo gone" paint/sticky removal stuff, and try to only remove the black surface, meaning only give "elbow grease" with the black surface you want to remove. Hopefully, you will not mare the original surface and be back to the stock finish look!

OP, it would be easier just to retouch the black. If you are tired of the black strip it down with a wire brush and paint silver.

You could just paint them silver on top of the black no? It'll most likely look stock.

NVM... silly me... I did not read you did not want to repaint...

I dont think there is any way you can actually get all the paint off without damaging the coat you want to leave them at.

 

Try acetone
REMEMBER TO TAPE ANYTHING OFF THAT YOU DO NOT WANT REMOVED (PLASTIC, CLEAR COAT, RUBBER, ECT)

 

acetone and a wire brush or just a pastic one? they actually tried to fit 285's but they rubbed the UCA at full turn so i ordered spidertrax and they put the old tires back on so a little acetone prob wouldnt hurt my soon to be old tires

 

Plastic might melt try it first. No wire brush if you want them to be brushed chrome and not scratched chrome. If plastic brush melts use a rag.

 

no wire brush, let the acetone do the work for you. start with small amount to see how well it comes off first.....

 

Repaint them black, do a really good job and then offer to trade somebody black OR rims for stock

 

have fun wiping forever with acetone. use some brush on aircraft paint remover and it will take that paint right off and just re-clear them. problem fixed.
