I needed a pickup. When I did research, one thing stuck out at me: resale value. There was not another pickup that came close in retaining it's value like the Taco. Once I took a test drive, I was sold. That was 7 months ago and now I own two Tacomas--a 2010 and a 2000. I'm sold.

Check my build thread...too much to list.
Growing up my uncle had a 92 toyota and that things was lifted with some 33's. I loved the look of the truck and how well it performed off road. Also being from Hawaii the Toyota Capital, I saw all the different way people modified their Toyotas. So when I joined the Air Force and got some money I picked up a used 03. Had that truck for 3 years and was getting married so I traded for my 09 for the extra space. I miss the 03 though, that thing was a beast.

I really thought the truck could survive being eaten by the Loch Ness Monster and being hit by a meteor

future plan of 2" drop and any type of rim thats not a steelie. grille and BHLM mods, maybe....
got sick of buying GM trucks that broke down within the first year of ownership. 19,600 on my 2010 tacoma, only issue blower motor chirp.....my 06 Canyon Crewcab I4 5 spd 2wd....13k miles...2 cylinder heads within 100 miles of each other...dropped valves, cam issues, CEL,2 coil pack died, shotty dealership work...oh the list goes on and on and on.....my Tacoma...LOVE IT! no (knock wood) issues anywhere near what i went through with my Canyon.
plan on keeping the taco a long time!!!!!

^ in April 2010, my wife and kids and I were at a stoplight and hit our 2005 F250 crew 4X4 from behind. Totaled it. We all walked away with minor injuries. I was already looking at other trucks because my Ford had been in and out of the shop constantly... it only had 102K on the clock at time of accident. When it worked, it drove great. Unfortunately, it had been in/out of the dealership so many times I lost count. I also had issues with my 1996 Dodge 1500 extended cab 4X4. Now that I have my yotas, I will likely never (or need to) by a Ford, GM or Dodge truck again.

the episode where they left it in the rough ass tide and had to troll it out the next day then with some carb cleaner it started right up!:eek::eek::eek::eek:

i had already bought mine by the time i saw that vid but, that would have been my reason as well that was some bad ass shit right there! i have never seen anything like that and i really don't think that any other truck could have survived half the shit they did in that episode.
