Who said anything about using it to tow? If I wanted to, I'd look into that beast.

Can't do shit with it offroad, and I'll be damned before I ever give one red cent to Chrysler.

I want a *small* diesel, because you get V8 torque with V6 fuel economy. Our current V6 gets close-to-V8 power/tq and close-to-V8 economy. But at 4 liters of displacement, only morons can be surprised by that.

I would take a V8 in a heartbeat. If the difference is a bar or diner tab less per week,..... so be it. Heavily considering a LS1 transplant. In 4wd, sand, or snow, the extra power would be epic. The supercharger may be a wise compromise with a fully functional warranty. My definition of bad ass keeps expanding though.

About the 4.0L, am I the only one that feels like there could be more power that could have come out of a 4.0L V6...

I see TONS of V8 Dakotas myself of all generations. I'll agree on the Colorado though.

I would have bought one with the 4.6 if it was available. Not that's it's needed, but it would be nice. The 5.7 while awesome would be a bit of overkill. I'd be happy with the 270hp version of the 4.0.

Actually its pretty powerful for a stock 4 liter engine. But I still think they need to offer the 4.6 that they claim has 300+ hp. It would be epic.

I do agree there's quite a bit of grunt, it's a nice motor.

I'd be even happier if the new tacomas get the updated V6 with dual VVT-i.

Honestly, I'd rather have a turbo diesel than a V8 in my tacoma.

Wow. For a thread that's been don a million time before, sure getting alot of miles. BTW it's not the Dodge forum, and I never saw diesel in the poll. Maybe you should start your own thread, no?

An ARE camper shell, a 1000w power inverter.

I get that, but I've yet to find a vehicle besides my old '94 Caprice that could get over 500 miles to a tank and be a V-8. That thing had the best highway mpg I've seen in a V-8. Had to be mid-20's.

Literally I would get Gas on Loyola Ave in Kenner,LA and the not stop until Taylor, TX on my way to Austin/Round Rock. Thats nearly 520 miles. That was just when the light would come on.

    I miss my old land-boat.

My point exactly. A small block at 2300 rpm will always burn less fuel than a V6 at 3400 rpm. Anyone in a poer mechanics course in highschool learned in grade 10 that more cylinders = more torque. Less torque requires more gearing ratio which equals yep, you guessed it. Poorer mpg.

But that's not the point here. A V8 option is, and let me say that again, an option. I know there's an argument for the 4 banger, a diesel, hybrid WTF ever. All I'm saying is Toyota, a Toyota that was built in San Antonio, for North Americans, should have had an option available for the 4.6 iForce.

I just don't see Toyota putting a V8 in the mid sized Tacoma. Especially when the EPA is making mileage standards
