I was just wondering if anyone had installed the factory door sill protectors on their Tacoma? I got some from the dealership and see that you have to remove the plastic around the door jamb. I guess I am a wuss and do not want to go and mess up the plastic on my brand new truck. I just wanted some input before I started taking off any plastic and damaging it.

    Thanks for your help,

    Chong.

All you have to do is pull up on the plastic, you won't break the plastic, its a tacoma. then apply as if it was a vinyl and use a heat gun for better stick.

Can you use a hair dryer if you do not have a heat gun? Probably a stupid question but I have not had much experience with using a heat gun.

A hair dryer is fine. Just get the paint clean.

I have an '07 Access Cab, and when I installed the Toyota factory sill protectors, I DID NOT have to remove the door jamb plastic pieces to install them. Dry fit your factory sill protectors and see if they fit the same way too.

P.S. Removing the plastic door jamb pieces is really easy, just pull up on them and they unclip.

I just got a set of door sill protectors (OEM) for my 06 Double Cab. In the installation instructions it recomends 3M Prep-Solvent-70 to clean the surface before installing the door sills. Is this product really necessary or is there anything else I can use to clean so the adhesive sticks well.

Rubbing alcohol works just as well as a cleaner as the 3M Prep-Solvant.

I am very interested, but since we have season tickets to the Carolina Gamecock Football games, I was waiting to see what date had been chosen for the Carolina get together.

On no not a Gamecock fan  Tigers all the way buddy!!! Anything would be better than watching that second rate group of misfits you call a football team play... especially a TW get-together! Now if its during a Clemson game thats a different story... if there is a Clemson game on that day we'll just have to re-schedule :)
