This TSB was issued to correct the differential howl at speeds 50-70mph. I had the TSB installed on a 2008 Tacoma, and it didn't work. In fact, it made the howl worse. Has anyone experienced the same problem? Of course, I am getting all kinds of BS from the service manager. He even says this whine is really normal for a Tacoma!

If the whine were normal, why did Toyota issue a TSB? I am communicating with a service rep, but he has the standard BS line.

I'm having this same howling noise too. For me it happens around 40km/h and is more noticeable in cold weather. Has anyone discovered a way to fix this yet?

I had three differentials replaced in an effort to fix the whine/howl. None of which worked. Toyota now refuses to do anymore work on the problem. Bottom line is they can't fix it.

I even complained to the State Consumer Division with no results. State said that they had no power and my only option was to sue them. Which, I cannot afford.

The howl seems to be getting worse and I guess I'll have to have it repaired someday with my own money even though It is still under warranty.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
If you had 3 diffs that means its not your diff howling. I would change dealer or get some private tech to figure out what is exactly wrong because current set of people is not doing that great of work.

I don't drive the truck much,25,049 miles. And,I am waiting until spring to have it checked out for something other than a differential. I just drive it to pull my boat.
