Have the same issues, right before I pull off the lane to get on the road I check the tires, just to get the big rocks out. The tires I run have really deep tread, so I pick up alot.
But I am surprised, with everything I have thrown, I only have 1 spot, where you see a hit, and that it where the flare meets the metal on the bed.

Oh I have more than 1 chip. The other day a very large rock flew up past my window, made me wanna cut my flaps. I take it the mud terrain throw those same boulders the AT toss.

I have 4 flaps from an 07 4x4 taken off around 3000 miles that I've been meaning to post in the for sale section, I just haven't taken them out of storage to take pics and make the post. I'll get them out this evening and post them up .

    sold...thanks Rob.
Nice truck and welcome to Vegas.

I agree that the mud flaps Toyota put on their trucks are garbage! They are one of the 1st things that I got rid ofwhen I purchased my truck. Then I started looking at all the 2nd generation trucks running around out here in so cal. I noticed that the majority of them all had at least 1 broken mud flap. The majority of the broken flaps were the front drivers side. Before this truck I had, I had a 2000 pre runner . If I remember right, the flaps on that truck were mounted on a steel plate that was attatched to the body of the truck! I never had 1 problem with those set of flaps. The 1 nice thing was when they would get bent back, you could bend back the medal pice that it was attached to. A quick fix! :D
