Air bag light

So today when i was driving my friend he was moving the passenger seat back and fourth and after a bout a minute my air bag light on the dash came on. I tried unplugging the wires that are under the seat and plunged them back in and messed around with the air bag switch that is next to the stareo and even took off the battery and the light is still on. Any one know what it could be?

 

The best thing to do would be to take it to the dealership my friend. The last thing you want to do is risk serious injury to a passenger if anything were to happen and the airbag did not function properly.

 

Either way, I hope you're in warranty. Those things are priced stupid

So what would be the best thing to do? Do it my self or go to the dealership and let them take care of it?

 

The answer was given above (dealer for safety reasons)... and mine failed out of warranty on my 2005 ($300)

 

I'm out of luck my warranty is gone.

 

considering the OEM part is around $250, paying $300 for the dealer to replace it doesn't seem like a bad deal at all.

I'm all for doing all of your work yourself, but if you're not 100% confident in your abilities I would most certainly insist that you'd take it in for something that could mean the life or death of your passenger in a serious accident. Just my $.02

At least now you have a parts price to go by so you can be confident you're not getting stiffed.
