    Rate this mod at http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/171563-toyota-symbol-back-light.html

I have determined that the light was a bit uneven and not quite bright enough so i bought these last night http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280724092593&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT so when i get them in and installed i will post pics.

just want to start off saying that 1 i am not responsible for anything you do to ur truck, 2 i know there is probably better ways to do what i did but thats just the way i did it.

    Step #1
I traced the out side of the Toyota Emblem with paper and pen.

    Step #2
took plastic cups and cut them in half or how ever necessary to create the shape of the emblem. them i duct taped into place

    Step #3
Cut the paper off then cover the inside and outside of of the cupwith duct tape.i also cut the bottom off the cups so it wouldn't be so deep and used duct tape to round the bottom of the inside of cup.

    Step #4
i picked up a fiber glass repair kit from walmart $11 at my walmart. just follow the directions, cover in resin, let it dry, then apply the fiber glass and more resin.

    IMG_2652_98362365bd8bc5b410ba2e93c7f3919fa88ccb15.jpg

let me warn you, the resin will dry fast so make it in small batches.

I did inside 1st, then outside, then around the rim.

    Step #5
Once dried sand all the high points down.

    Step #6
paint it with a flat black out door paint. flat black makes it look like there is nothing at all behind the grill even though i did not try a glossy black.

    Step #7
Drill a whole in the side where the the cables can run behind the Toyota symbol. i did mine on the upper left hand side. and drill a whole at the lowest part on the bottom for the water to drain

    IMG_2654_70e77ff99c86a5a80cabd8eabfaf62a72cb6325c.jpg

    Step #8
I found some foam in the shed and i used it to make a good seal between the Fiber glass pocket and the grill

    IMG_2650_11d2b15fa58090251e3f0cad64e623947f6a3479.jpg

    IMG_2648_a77e8c3f86ea6fade54e88365370286521ff60e7.jpg

    Step #9
Run ur wire through the whole. i cut mine the length of my grill so i can remove my grille and only have to undo the connectors

    index_5064193601b080e81242ede7a471401dadfb18bf.jpg

    Step #10
This is how i did it ... a good place to test and play arround with
I picked up a flashlight bulb and bulb mount from radioshack, wired it up and used just a dap of super glue to hold it into place.

    IMG_2647_ead72ec1e3a5751e787602b113c7715ee7fd1a64.jpg

    IMG_2657_968e09cda76f237d2a3443da3b8860dd062da86b.jpg

    IMG_2658_911c25ae6656afa7c23f2d3564f399c27e87bbb9.jpg

    Step #11
i ran one line the the frame and i ran the other like from the battery, to a switch in the cab, and then back to the light.

    Step #12
Ok hear me out on this so i didnt want to glue the fiber glass pocket to the grille so when the bulb blew (which it already did bc i had the wrong voltage) i could get to it with out tearing everything up. so i took 4 (white) zipties with a loop on the end and tied them to the closest spots i could on the grill that cant be seen. then i connected them all to the middel with cheaper zipties (blue).

    IMG_2659_73b84a2cda81ef993c8575e8611028cea9699cc8.jpg

it wont fall off even though it does look kind of sketch but its also easy to get it off.

    this is what you get

I personally really like it and dont think its that "ricey" at all. I have never seen a tuner car with that, a post from before is right kinda batman ish, might even be cool on a blacked out truck with that like a batman light.
