Have you ran into any problems with putting to much weight in them? i have two just like that and want to do this as well just wondering how much weight they can hold before something like the rail giving out or the bolts

i have one kinda like this. but i want one that has a hinge on one end.

i think i want to do this mod and get the one that replaces one of the compartments in the bed. i think with that i’ll have all the locked room i need.

Thanks guys. No I don't have a bolt on rear of the boxes. Using washers on all the bolts helps I guess. Just the sides hasn't let me down.

In one box I have: 2 racheting straps, 2 bungies, 2 3/4 shackles, 20' snatch strap, leather gloves and zip ties. Other has 20' air hose and nozzle. Never had a problem with too much weight. The sides facing the outside of truck are lined with insulation tape to reduce bounce, noises and rattles.

Gun show is your best bet like TACO721 mentioned. I went to the Ventura Gun show last weekend and they had some there. They have another show in ontario this weekend. Costa Mesa in March which I believe is the biggest in SoCal. If you need other stuff like lots of ammo it's worth the trip and ticket/parking cost.

I purchased a .50cal can for $9 versus $20+online and it was in great condition. I'm thinking about getting a 20mm can myself.
