Drilled a hole just below the steel shaft (same location as in Picture) clamped it down with vice grips and used a Strong nylon cable tie, cut the end off...easy peasy japaneasy

My visor was beyond repair, I tried all the tricks and finally just broke down and bought a new one.

I had good luck with these guys. Though they were not the cheapest, but they ran my VIN and made sure that I got the right thing with the right color and fabric and everything

I've had a new visor for several months and had no issues.

Thanks B Snow, I fixed my visor & glued the fabric back. Looks ok, but works now. I used zip ties instead of pipe strap. Glad I found this post. Saved me $100.

I just tried this fix. It really works. You may need to polish up on your sewing skills, though.

After buying one for the driver side a few years ago ($100), passenger side did the same thing. Found this and used the zip ties. Works now. I need some clear thread to sew it back up.
    Thanks!

You sir have saved me from going to Toyota and paying over $100 for a new one. I got a new one in 2011 after my visor broke in 2009 on my 2006 Taco. I finally swallowed the $100 and something for the new one. I looked all over on Amazon and Ebay and couldn't find one I liked after trying a couple of different ones. You have made my day for sure!
