I bought a Tacoma '11 regular cab over the weekend and I want to get XM installed on it. I see the radio has a "SAT" button. Is there a way to buy equipment and hook it up through the unit? I would rather not buy an add-on that I have to mount somewhere.

They all have a external receiver and wiring but it does run through the radio. I think there is one radio unit that is NOT compatible but not positive. If you have the sat/am button then I believe your ok to go. Just give them the radio number to be sure. They change things so fast it's hard to keep up.

Push the SAT button and see if an ID number shows up on the display and/or you get channel 1 on XM. If you do, the equipment is already installed, just write down the ID number and call or log onto xmradio.com and activate the radio.

If you don't get anything when you push the SAT button you will need to add the tuner or go aftermarket radio.

Hope this helps, I have 4 xm radios... oh, and if you call and get someone with an Indian accent, hang up and keep calling the 800 number till you get an "in country" CSR. It'll save you a lot of hassle!

    I used these parts
    SIRIUS SCC1 Connect Universal Tuner
Directed Electronics TOYSC1 Toyota/Lexus/Scion SiriusConnect Tuner Interface
Lexus GS Shark Fin Antenna Adapter( not required) I used it to use factory antenna

Every thing looks factory. It all mounts behind the radio.

Do you have to have the JBL system, or does any stock system work?

As long as the radio has the sat button it should work. Mine is not the JBL system.

This is mine. However, when I push "SAT" nothing happens.

    What would I need?

    Thanks!

Regarding this shark fin antenna, I don't think I have one. Are you saying that this means the radio will work with my stock antenna, without mounting one of the sat ones?

sat uses its own antenna The shark fin is the bump on the back near the third break light. If you don't have that the kit comes with one that mounts to the dash.
