5100 leveling question?

Should I set the Bilstein 5100's at .85", or 1.75" to level a 2nd gen with the rear leaf/harsh ride TSB?



Anybody have pics of this setup? Note: I'm not using an add-a-leaf, just leaf TSB.

Go with 1.75 you will still have a rake if you get the tsb done. I set mine at 1.75 and no rear tsb and I'm half inch higher in the rear.

I actually am getting the rear tsb done this week and I just picked up some 5100's as well would 2'' or 2.5'' be too high for the front and make it not be level.... Is the 5100's all that is need to lift the front end? (not to hyjack the thread)

 

So you have stock rear set-up, and the back is still higher? Even with the front at 1.75? How is that?

The rear TSB will raise the bed about 1"-1.5". But from what I've read, each truck may be a little different. I set mine at 1.75" and got the rear TSB and my back end is about .5"-1" higher now. But I think mine was only about 1.5" higher to begin with. Another thing to keep in mind is that I've heard that the rear TSB settles some over time and that setting the 5100s at 2.5" is more prone to vibes and other potential issues. Also, be sure to put the shocks on first and that way Toyota alligns your truck for free!

Nice thanks for the help I actually am having them put the shocks on while they add the tsb so allirgnment is covered i just pay labor for the shocks being put on... so 1.75'' is the way to go did you notice much of a difference in the height of the truck? Do you think if I went 2 that it would be ok and or level after settling?

OLD THREAD REVIVE during a search

Much like the OP was planning, I want to put the 5100's @ .85 in the front and get the rear TSB. I think he was talked into going 1.75. I don't want to go that high. Yes this will give me some rake but I use my truck as a truck. I am getting the TSB because of this and not for looks. Knowing this, how much will the TSB rear springs settle after break in? Will I still have a front biased rake after they settle with the 5100's at .85? Any one know how much of a rake (after settling) or does anyone have this setup? Thanks.

 

With the 5100's at 1.75 and the leaf TSB, my truck is close to level, but the front is still a little lower.
Since installing the 5100's and getting the TSB done, it has saw plenty of heavy work hauling firewood and work supplies around until November '11, and then a 2,200 mile drive fully loaded to Utah, and bouts of offroading throughout.

The 5100's ride significantly better than the TRD Offroad shocks did, and set at 1.75" give a perceptible frame-clearance increase (though the slightly oversized tires help too).

Pleased with this setup, works very well until I can afford a proper lift and Dakar leafs.
