After contemplating all different tire sizes and options (265s, 255s, 285s, etc)
I settled on 265 70 17 General Grabber AT2s on FJ cruiser 17" Alloys. I decided on 17s because of the better tire options available. Most of the tires I like (BFG ATs, Grabbers, etc only come in heavy E-Rated tires in 265 75 16s, and I had no interest in E rated tires on a Tacoma.

I was very close to getting 285s, but I am glad I didn't. I think these look great without the rubbing and MPG loss of 285s.

Suspension is Billies at 2.5 and a 2" AAL in the rear. In the front I have a Warn M8000 winch with Masterpull Synthetic winch line on an All-pro bumper.

So on to the pics.... Sorry she's a bit dirty

Looks good, I got the same tire size and set up (billes @2.5+AAL) on tundra limited wheels. Like those tires!

I was going to ask the same thing, that rack is nice. Could you post a couple pics of the rack? Did you have to trim the lip of the shell to make it fit?

Yes, I did make the rack. It's 1 3/4 x .062 tubing. There is a piece of 3"x3/16 steel that runs between the shell and the bed from front to back. Then, there are 3 1.5" wide strips that come off of the main piece at a downward angle to a 3' piece of the 3x3/16" barstock that the hoops mount to. I bent the hoops with my JD2 tube bender and welded her up. I did not modify the shell in any way. The load bars are Yakima load bars bolted on with the top clamps of some old Yakima Raingutter towers.

Thanks for the compliments on the truck and the rack. I built it exactly how I wanted for camping, kayaking, and exploring.
