diff swap

    hello to all !!

    I own a 2006 prerunner double cab 2 wheel drive, I want to swap the limited slip diff with a locking diff, what is it going to take for this to happen? Is it possible ??

    there are other threads ive read on just this topic and i think the conclusion was that its cheaper to install on ARB locking diff then to swap the whole axle with the TRD OR one.

    the truck has a limited slip diff in it now. I want to remove it & install a locking diff.is this not possible??

    3 inch suspension lift, night shades corner and blinkers projector headlights with halos and 3 led's 18 inch kmc xd rockstar wheels,275/65/18 kelly safari tsr's, bush whacker fender flares 7 inch touch screen, 2 kenwood 12's, Magnaflow exaust single in dual out,
    the limited slip in these things are pretty good as it is, like the others said it would be alot simpler and probably alot cheaper to just pull the limited slip out, and install a locker.

    Everyone else is correct. You have an 8.4 axle. The TRD OR has an 8.0. You would have to swap the entire axle. Would be better and easier to install an ARB or Detroit locker in the rear.

    COuple names come to mind,
    dtrujillo63 has installed an ARB in the rear of his

    Sarah from All Pro has a detroit in the rear of her Tacoma.

    I found the carrier/diff for $ 850.00 + shipping, I was thinking the axles would have to be changed,but did not know. Im sure glad I found you guys.This place is great!!!

    It was just the member they quoted me,It was coming out of a wrecked '08 with 43,478 miles, but ecgs looks like they got everything. Im going to call & get a quote from them.
