is a squeaky clutch on a brand new 2011 6-speed manual normal? is it something the dealer should fix?

i've got a 2011 4x4 double cab 6-speed short bed with just under 5,000 miles. i was wondering if i should get the dealer to look at the clutch when i take it in for the first oil change (free).

    thanks

I had the same issue come up with I think less that 5k on the truck. I brought it to the dealer and they did do a replacement of something (but it escaped me now).

Bring it in and see what they say.

Same thing with mine. The lubed it up on my first visit, then I took it back for a second oil change and the guy replaced the bearing with new parts. What it comes down to is that the bearing is plastic, and plastic squeaks. So I'm fully expecting the new parts to squeak again.

At this point, all I'm doing it trying to get a service history, so when I'm out of Warranty, I can go back to them and say "Hey, look at the service records. I've had this problem since day 1"

The squeaky clutch itself doesn't bother me, I just turn up the radio.

No reason not to have them look at it, as Ryan said, at least they will have record of you reporting it.

thanks guys. yeah i thought i'd have them look at it anyways. it seems that it's worse when the truck has been sitting for awhile, especially in the sun while i'm at work.

if you look under your clutch pedal there is a metal rod that goes into a black plastic cylinder, at the top of the metal rod is a lug nut and attached the lug nut is a square piece of metal, twist that whole assembly to tighten it until you feel it "pop" into place, no more clutch squeak. no matter how many times the dealer replaces it, its not going to stop. my truck is a 2011 as well, and this is what fixed it.

edit: i found a pic for ya, you can see the metal nut at the top of that rod, with the square attached to the top of it, dont tighten it too much, youll fell it click back into "place" or w/e then your clutch is good to go.... all the more reason to love these trucks haha

well i mentioned it when i took it in at 5,000 miles. they said they didn't find anything. it hasn't been as bad lately, but it hasn't been as hot either. (if the heat really has anything to do with it)

None yet, other than wheels :)
^This. You don't even need a wrench you can just hand turn it about a quarter turn. Quite possibly the easiest automotive fix ever.
