Haha! A diesel would be awesome to have, thats for sure!

No update yet from the mechanic, I guess he was on vacation and, even though he is back, his voice message is full...luckily he is a friend (okay, acquaintance) so I sent my buddy over to his house this morning to see if he can track him down :)

If I can't get him over there, I will head up this weekend. Sounds like what I need to check is: the oil, try to turn over the engine, check the starter, the solenoid, etc.?

Oil and manaully crank the motor first. No point checking the starter if you can't rotate the motor over by hand.

    back to bone stock.
did you try to turn the motor (by hand) with the plugs out? if not, do so..it will "burp" all the water out of the cylinders..and let you know if it is even possible to turn the motor.

    hydrolocking is no bueno..

sucks, good luck..and keep us posted.

Good luck OP, keep us posted. Thanks jberry, most of what goes on TW is horseplay, but the times like this make it a great online community. I hope I don't have to use the resources again, but its great to know they are there.

Fuck puddles, fuck mud, and fuck water crossings.

I get out and check every single damn puddle now if I can't see the bottom from the truck. I've come too close to hydrolocking too many times.

This was the last time I came close. I didn't know how deep it was going to get so I shut her down and used the winch to pull through it.

After I pulled the interior out and yanked the drain plugs.

I once filled my engine with dirty swamp water on my 84 Toy Pickup when it was fairly new doing a water crossing.

I drained the oil and a ton of water came out. I removed the plugs and cranked it by hand with a wrench. Water was shooting out the spark plug holes. I then went and bought a case of oil. I poured a few quarts in and hand cranked it again. Left it overnight and with no spark plugs, air cleaner (carbotated) or oil plug to dry out. The next day I refilled the oil and it stated. Ran it for 15 secs and I drained the oil again. It came out all milky. Refilled the oil and drove it for 10 minutes and again changed out the oil and it was less milky. Drove it for 30 miles and drained changed the oil one last time. Most of the milk color was gone.
In the mean time I tore out the seats and carpet and let them dry for a day. The radio was under water too but started working 3 days later after it dried out. I drove that truck another 125,000 miles without an issue until the frame rotted. Hope you have as good luck.

Forgot to mention I had to spray starter fluid into the spark plug holes to get it to fire.

Wow! Well...I'm sorry to hear y'all had bad experiences though I'm glad I'm not the only one. Haha.

Tomorrow after work I'm making the 6 hour drive up and keeping my fingers crossed but planning for the worst. One thing I was wondering...since I have an automatic, by putting it in neutral the engine SHOULD crank over right?

Thanks again for all the feedback guys, I really do appreciate it. An accent though??? Hmmm

And by crank I meant manually turn over.
