    I just purchased a one-owner, used 2009 Tacoma TRD Sport with 35k miles. I was curious if the previous owner had done the recommended maintenance, so I briefly inspected the truck and have since replaced both air filters (see pics here and here).

    I see what I should do here, but is there anything else I should do or look out for? Thanks for the help!

    This is a good guide.

    Edit: You basically posted the same maintenance schedule... LOL.

    4.0 L = 4.8 quarts
    2.7 L = 6.1 quarts

    manual trans:
    4.0 L = 1.9 quarts

    4.0 = less motor oil then 2.7?

    Go to Toyota Owners and register, add your VIN once registered. If any maintenance was done by Toyota it will show up there.

    Oil changes every 5,000 miles.

    FYI: Transmission is sealed, no dipstick, no need to check fluid.

    I had a 2005 & had 175,000 miles when I traded it. Only issues were factory battery at 5 years, universal joint replaced at 120,000 miles, wheel bearing replaced @ 165,000 miles.

    I just did normal maint: spark plugs @ 50,000 miles, Oil changes @ 5,000 miles(easy to do yourself, oil filter is on top of engine), Toyota pink engine coolant (only use this, not the cheap store brands) @ 100,000 miles, Brakes when needed, periodically check the air filter ;I have the K&N & wash & re-oil(with the kit) it every 20,000 - 25000 miles. Transmission service around 120,000 miles, Rear differental service around 100,000 miles.

    I ran synthetic oil from 80,000 miles going forward. Mostly because I didn't know much about synthetic till then. You can always find deals at the autoparts store for synthetic oils. Autozone has a $10 off coupon till Sept 24th. Usually autoparts synthetic deals are around $25-$30 with oil filter. The dealer charges from $45-$60 for synthetic.

    I actually found that link in a previous search, and have already registered. Question; is there a point to go in for the accelerator pedal? Or can I just replace mats. I have seen mixed results when I searched.

    Thank you so much. This was the information I was looking for. I do have a question for you. What synthetic oil would most Tacoma owners recommend?

    I think most synthetics are the same. I usually get whatever is onsale or has the best deal.

    In my previous vehicle I used Mobile 1 5w-30, and OEM oil filters. Does it make a difference in these Tacoma's what oil filter to use?

    I buy my filters from the dealer. The more I buy the more I save. I bought a case last time & it worked out to I think $3.50 a filter. Also get the crush washers (they are inexpensive) for the drain plug.
