6 speed gears an fuel economy

im curious if skipping gears on the 6 speed(1,3,6 while shifting at 2k) uses less gas compared to using all 6 gears so long as your shifting at 2k as well?
hope that makes sense.

 

I honestly don't see how that would help. Wouldn't that bog your engine down when the RPM drops from shifting.

 

It won't do you any good. The engine is going to lug when you shift and skip gears, rendering your mileage the same. Just drive like there is an egg on your throttle and shift conservatively.

 

for best fuel mileage according to toyota, shifting at 2500K is ideal. So skipping gears at 2k, im going to go with your going to get shittier mileage.

 

If you think about it, skipping a gear is effectively making your tranny a gear short and defeats the purpose of having all 6 gears.

However, I often skip 5th gear since 5th and 6th are so close. Usually stay on 5 on highway, 6 for freeway.
