Any body can recommend a good extractable bed cover?

I have a 2010 Tacoma double cab.

I would like to get a retractable bed cover for it, which is kind of convenience. The retractable covers are usually very expensive, so I want to get a really good quality piece.

The thing I concern most is the rain-proof. I do not want my stuff in the bed get wet when it is raining hard.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

the one in my add is essentially the same thing, just by another company. so if you're looking to buy new, assuming it's of similar quality to the pace edwards, the american roll should be great.

 

Let me think about it.
How is it works? I am concerned about water proof. Will rain water leak into the bed in heavy rains?

Besides, if I buy it, how much does it cost to ship it? I am in Texas.

 

i was lucky enough to have a truck shop near me when i got mine. they had a couple different modles on display. retractable covers are very waterproof, with the only weak point being where it meets the tailgate. a hard cover overlaps all edges, making it completely waterproof. the pace edwards is ike all of the other retractables i saw. the sides and against the cab are bone dry in heavy storms, you do get some watter against the tailgate. it's not bad, just something to considder. if keep whatever you have just an inch or two off th tailgate it'll stay dry.

i can take it to ups and fedex for shipping quotes if you want. i have both near me, so it's not a problem. it's too big of an item for the websites to give me quotes.

Sorry guys, this thread was started long time ago, but I still haven't decided yet.

Now I am seriously considering buying one retractable cover.

I checked the one colinb17 had: Pace Edward Jack Rabit. Seems the price is not high, but seems it is plastic (polymer) instead of aluminum.

There is something I want to find out:
1) Does the installation need drilling? It claimed 100% no-drill advanced mounting system. But I kind of wonder why. I went to a local store and checked RollNLock cover, and it needs to drill the tail gate (about 5 holes need to be drilled). I wonder how Jack Rabbit does not need drilling. And if it really does not need drilling, is it solid and steady enough?

2)I found the ad of PE Jack rabbit says some restrictions about the model for Tacoma:
(*1) Raised Top Cover on the canister due to truck bed size. Will impede the use of the tie down system.
(*2) Will impede the use of the factory tie down system

Does it mean that I cannot use the factory tie down system at any time or only when the cover is fully closed ? Can I still use the factory rail?

Works easy hot or cold. Not a rugged as a roll up aluminum but you don't loose your side rails (front ones are sort of hard to get at)

 

When I wen to a local shop, I only saw RollNLock. It looks ok for me, and they will install it free of charge. The total cost will be $1295+tax.

But I kind of wonder if it is really steady enough. Seems to me it only has a thin layer of aluminum beneath the vinyl surface. I doubt if it is strong enough. Besides, the vinyl surface needs maintainence.

I wonder if Jack Rabbit (or Full Metal Jack Rabbit) is the same as RollNLock.

What does "double walled" mean? Does it mean it replace the vinyl surface in RollNLock into aluminum? If that is true, that seems to be stronger.

But I haven't seen the real thing and kind of hesitate to buy it online. Because if I found it does not fit my truck well, I got lots of trouble to ship it back, and also it costs a lot for shipping.

I wonder if you guys have any experienc of this brand?

I want to piggyback on this threat. I'm a new Tacoma owner (2012 Access cab). I was looking at roll-up, all varieties.

Roll-back or FMJ look fine, but I have a question for owners. I could not find good angles / info on the net.

I transport motorcycles Spring though Fall, how much room does roll it take up at the front? What are canister dimensions?

 

I was reading the info on that, and it said nothing about weather protection for the items in the bed, it said weather tubing to keep their parts from rusting and what not, so I'm not sure if that is what you are looking for

How about this cover. It is not a roll-up but looks like it would do what you want. I do not have one but am thinking of buying it.
