I was looking at a 2006 tacoma access cab 4x4 trd off road with 47k miles. The dealership is asking $22k. What do you all think is a fair price to buy at?

No, I paid less than that for a 2007 with LESS miles and that was LAST year.
Don't forget the factory drivetrain warranty runs ouut in 5 years. So you might check to see when it runs out. It will run out some time this year, might already have.

    Mine is a 2007 Access-Cab TRD Off-Road v6 4.0 Auto.

Just under $21,000.....$20,7xx to be more exact. I think had 31,000 miles on it then.
Actually it was most likely less miles, I know I've had 2 oil changes and it only has 37,000 on it now.
I change my oil at 5,000.
Only thing that was wrong with it were 3 small dents in the tail gate.
The dealer said they could fix them easily with out having to even repaint it.
I said, No Thanks. Just take it off the price of the truck. They were asking $23,xxx
The dent are not really noticable but I did point them out to "help lower" the price.
Never hurts, they would if I were trading one in.....

Are they asking 22K or have you brought them down for a higher price?
If that's starting price then you can get down to a reasonable/better price.

I paid 17,500 for mine in december of 2009. I bought from an auto broker and that was the KBB private party price for "fair" condition. It had 41K on it and was exactly four years old. That gave one year powertrain warranty. Other than the fact it had been smoked in and had a couple burns on the seats from that, the truck would have been in "good" condition. No dents, brand new tires, fresh detail job, etc.

The other truck I was looking at was on the local Toyota dealer's lot. It was one year older, had 20K more miles on it, had a camper shell and auto trans, and was a certified used vehicle and would have had a two year warranty on the powertrain. They wanted 22K and would not budge on price.

Almost two years later, I think it would have been a wash except for the extra 20K miles. I have noticed my timing cover is starting to seep oil. No more warranty on that, so there's a grand or so if it needs to be done. My shell I bought was 1600 bucks (but nicer than the other truck had).

You can find one cheaper for sure. But if there is a warranty included, that may be worth it to you, or you could risk it like I did and it could turn out good or bad.
