I liked that part. With my 20% tint on the front windows it felt like you were completely invisible.

You get over the blind spots really quick. The high beltline does make it hard to see obstacles on your sides when off-road.

That's what a set of tube doors are for

No hers is 4wheel, and if you noted my next post i said i hate my truck. i hate the way it drives, handles gas mileage etc. i dont like her fj becuase it handles just as bad gets and you cant see anything out of it. its like driving a submarine and i hate it. its just so slow and sloppy feeling its ok off road but not great my truck is ok too but my Audi was more capable off road then both of these trucks. sorry man wasn't trying to step on toes i know people love there tacomas and FJ's and i really want to love my truck i really do i just keep dumping money into trying to fix the many things that toyota and all there infinite wisdom missed but it just aint happening. thats the reason im on here so much is im searching for the answers to fix the problems but keep coming up at the end of the day driving home from work and hating the 5 min drive.

    None yet! It's new!
I am fortunate enough to own both. They're quite different. The FJ is more utilitarian and not as "nice" inside as your Tacoma. The Tacoma has a bed. I don't think you mentioned whether the FJ has an auto trans. That would be a breaking point for me, along with the miles. I wouldn't do it, based on the difference in miles and year model, without more $$.

My FJ has an auto trans. I won't tow a long distance with any load with a Toyota auto trans. Too much hunting around for the right gear. I'll only tow with the manual trans Tacoma.

There's also the potential that the FJ has been abused more than your Tacoma.

Bottom line: your call/your vehicles/your happiness.

Edit: the FJ has a noticeably shorter wheelbase and is twitchier on the highway. It's much more neutral feeling than the Tacoma with less understeer. It's easier to drive I'd say, and I actually find it more fun to drive than the Tacoma, generally. Just depends on whether you need the bed, as someone else said... and what YOU want.

I actually like the FJ and was between the FJ and the Tacoma. I thought the Tacoma was more practical for the bed but the other thing for me was the blind spot as well. RAPR is right in saying it is horrible. Other then that I really liked the FJ.

Good luck with what you decide.

I was generally concerned why you hate the FJ so much.thats all. no toes stepped on

I loved my tacoma, but had a prerunner like the OP.I was always kicking myself for not buying the 4wd in the first place.

If the OP doesn't have a need for the bed, and enjoys offroading...it would be a cool trade for him.
I think he may have the info backwards though. It would look a lot different if he had a 3" rear lift and a 1.5 front :p

OP, you should test drive it and make your decision from there. Fj's are nice as hell, I want one  maybe I will have the keys to an Fj or something else in the near future.

    neglect, mostly.
don't all second gens require premium gas? mine (an 07) does and i don't run it. pretty sure most don't on here either. as long as the engine timing is right it doesn't matter.

I ONLY run premium. I just figured it's a couple bucks more total and I do anything possible to help it run better for the long haul.
