OC Auto Show 2012 Tacoma Pics **56K BEWARE**

Just got back from the OC auto show where they had the 2012 Tacoma. I haven't seen a thread where someone personally detailed the changes for the new 2012 Tacoma, so I took a bunch of pics of the changes I saw and will post them in this thread.

NOTE: I apologize in advance for the shaky and blurry pictures. A cell phone does not replace a dedicated camera.

I reviewed a 2012 DCSB SR5:


Even with the dual VVT-i, the mpgs aren't all that better:


Price ain't too bad, just $400 above the MSRP on my 09 DCSB SR5:


The Exterior.

You can see the major exterior change is to the front of the truck:



New fog light housing and new headlights:

 

On to the interior:

View from the Driver's seat. Looks like there is a lot of influence from the new 4runner's:


The Head unit and lower aux area got a full redesign:


The rear view mirror has some on-star capable thingy:


All weather floor mats has new style clips:


Seats are new as well as a contrasting center console, carpet, and door accents:

Doesn't have duel VVT-i, and new emission regulation things also:

Back and the bed of the truck look pretty much the same as earlier 2nd gens:



Simple yet awesome changes are the locking gas cap (which might just be an auto show thing so people don't put things in the tank):


Front bed tie downs:

 

For 2012, Toyota added 4 leaf rear leaf springs eliminating one of the biggest issues with 2nd gen's:

I hoped you guys enjoyed this up close view of the 2012 second gen. This is pretty much all the pics I took of what I observed to be notable changes.

 

Look at the TRD off road decal. It looks like the 1st gen tacoma off road decal

Nice, it's not a dual VVT engine though, only the FJ and 4Runner got that engine. The 2012 Tacoma has the same V6 it's had since 2005

 

Front end of the '12 is ugly comparatively to the current 2nd gens IMO

 

That's what I was about to say. I couldn't imagine no one mentioning a dual VVT before now.

 

I think it looks way better than the "current" second gens, but I don't like that hose/wire around thereafter leafs...seems like it could snag on something

 

I'm glad to see they are putting black carpet in there...now only a matter of time before black seats!

 

What is that equipment near the ABS controller (Above to the left, and directly below)? That looks new...My 08 doesn't have that. It's just an empty space between the Intake and the ABS controller.

 

yah def not diggin the front end as much as the current 2nd gens.... i think the current is much smoother and just flows better if that makes any sense lol... the seems a little too square boxed imo..... the new stereo redesign is pretty nice ..

 

i hate that they went back to the old TRD decals

 

thats what sockmonkey is for. Besides it shows they are aware of their roots and possibly hinting at going in that direction with the 3rd gen.

 

Front tie down?.... oh, there is a front tie down..... I was looking too high in that picture......
