Yeah - me too - don't get the "looks" thing at all. They both look good. I was set on a long bed - but once I laid out a tape measure on the garage floor I decided against it. It would have fit - but just barely. I decided I would want to be able to walk around the truck while it was in the garage with the garage door closed - so went with the short bed. I don't regret it at all - I have a bed cover now and I don't really haul large stuff like lumber, etc... However, if my garage was about 2 feet longer than it is I would have gotten the long bed - just to have it. I never really thought about looks when I decided though.

i had to have the LB for hauling ATV's, i dont like the idea of having all of that weight sitting on my tailgate esp. with the "bending gate" problem

well see, i am only in college. my dad has a 06 2500hd crew, because he is a contractor. So if i ever really needed to haul something i would just borrow his truck. I have never done off roading, because i never could with my little s10. I don't do too much hauling, except for in the summer time (boat, jet ski, trailers, etc). But at the same time, i plan to major somewhere in construction, and get my contractors license. So in the future i most likely will be loading a bunch of construction stuff in my bed. I just do not know yet what to get, because both would work great. Again, I have never gone off roading, but i think i might start going when i have a tacoma. I use to be all about the long beds, but now the short beds are kind of growing on me. Long beds do look proportional, but short beds look kind of beefy. Long beds with out lifts look extremely long sometimes, and short beds can look like a chode sometimes (short and fat).

If you think you are going to be hauling stuff in the near future as you said, you would be better off with the long bed though there is not a whole lot of difference when it comes to hauling things like sheets of drywall as you're still too short. I have a short bed and really miss the functionality of a longer bed but at the same time I wouldn't trade it for one. I'm actually looking for a used access cab with the longer bed for my son so I can use it if needed.

Talk to Legends Toyota in KC. I know it is a pretty good drive, but they are FANTASTIC and they really give the best deal I have seen around here.

Love the way the LB looks.. woulda picked it in a heartbeat. wanted the TRD package cuz of the bilsteins, and hated the hoodscoops and wanted the lockers.. so went with off road.. heheheh love the short wheelbase, but still wish off-roads were offered in LB as well... heheh
