Since I started subscribing to some of the threads here, I have been finding out things that I did not know about my truck.

So I got curious and explored the interior and so far I have found out some cool things like the telescopic steering wheel and the SRS wiring behind cover beneath the passenger Left A/C vent.

Anyway, this morning, I came across another mystery. If you look at whats behind the leftmost blank switch cover (just below the power outlet main switch), there is another connector that is not connected to a switch up front. Looking at the manual, it states that this space is for the "DAC" switch. My question now is what is a DAC, and what is it for???

    Thanks again!

OK! my ggogle-fu is getting better.

It is a downhill assist control. What I could not figure out is why don't Toyota put a switch on it??? Does my vehicle have this feature (2006 DC TRD Off-road)?? under what circumstances will I need to use it and is it that useful/important??

If you don't have the switch then you don't have DAC. It is used for going down steep hills. You can accomplish the same thing by leaving it in first gear and going easy on your brakes.

You can just add the switch, it just won't make any difference since the truck isn't set up for it :D
