squeaky start up

Lately when it's been a little damp in the morning, the belt has been squeaky at start up. Seems like after a few minutes its gone. Any ideas on resolutions? Thanks

 

replace the serp belt and check the tensioner to make sure she's free and moves smoothly. A little play is ok

how many miles on it ??

 

36k . how big of a pita is it to change the serp belt? was thinking that but wanted to avoid it haha. just dont have alot of time and was trying to think of some other options

 

You can't shortcut fixing things right. The first thing some people do is start spraying belt crap on it. VERY bad idea.

It's way easier for me to replace it from the bottom but it can be done from the top. BUT !! It's very tight and plastic is sharp. LOL

The best way is to trace the belt routing on a piece of paper if you don't have a sticker. then a long 14mm wrench for leverage for the tensioner and release the tension and slip off the belt. work it off the pulleys and reverse the procedure.

Make sure you think you can do it because once that belt comes off you have nothing. And you can't drive it anywhere.
