Goo Gone vs. WD 40 - searched couldn't find an answer to my ?

I found the 3M Stripe Off Wheel at O'Reilly and NAPA, however at O'Reilly they did not have the drill bolt the wheel attached too, just the replacement wheel. If you can get one, this would be the way to go for sure.

Here's a question. I'm going to debadge my rig so that I can paint the badges. Where do I get the adhesive to reapply the badges when I'm done?

 

Use 3m molding tape from Walmart, just cut it and apply it. Pull the backing off when you're ready to stick it to the truck. I think it's called super strength molding tape. In the automotive section with the spray paint and bedliner. Part number 03609.

 

Yup... Gray tape, red backing.
Started showing up at WM about 5-6 years ago.
Before that, you had to get it from auto paint & body supply houses.

Adhesive removed (pain in the @ss), badges sanded and primed. Just put the first coat of Matte black paint on and will hit it again in the morning, with a third coat tomorrow night. I did get the 3M tape and stuck it to the back of the badges prior to painting. Should have it all back on the Taco on Wednesday...

Hot sun (heat gun will help warm up the adhesive too) and Gorilla Duct Tape (sticky side) and blot it off.

Be VERY careful when using heat. Too much will actually begin to soften and melt the clear coat.

Also, WD-40 is a lubricant, not a decal/sticker/adhesive remover. It is not designed to do so. Goo-gone IS designed as an adhesive remover. Just FYI.
