HELP: Skids + Offroading. What skid plates are most important? Good prices?

    Ok,

    I have money for tires and have that set aside for when I go to pick up and paint the rims I'm going to mount them on. (I decided good tires are more important than anything else at the moment)

    Now, onto armor..

    I'm looking into getting skid plates before the Uwharrie run on the 18th of November and am looking for some advice on which are the most important, and where I can get some before Nov. 18th for a good price.

    Also, which would be more important, skid plates or sliders? It's possible I'll be able to get both before the run, but I've decided skids are more important so those come first. Thoughts?

    id say sliders are most important. IMHO

    but the front ifs skids would be priority as well.

    ATO makes awesome skids.

    I've just never really pushed my truck offroad to the point where I'd need a skid plate to protect something. I figured seeing what I broke by pushing myself wouldn't be the best way to see what I need to protect.. haha

    So sliders and an IFS skid? Then after that?

    +2 for sliders, if i was gonna off road alot they would be the first thing i'd buy, you wanna really go all out? get a relentless fab front bumper too, i'm a little bias tho:D

    It's really a toss up on which one is more important. I went with sliders first and they have saved my rockers more times than i can count. On the flip side, my IFS skid has taken a beating too.. If you can afford both, i would go that route. If your gonna wheel your rig, IMO armor is a must!

    Forgot to add, ATO has everything you need for all your armor needs.

    caged, camburg long travel, 50t leafpack (soon to be installed) light rack over cab, 5pt harnesses etc
    x...4? on sliders first then an ifs skid

    the underside of the 2.7 can take a beating. the oil pan and trans are tucked up pretty good and the exhaust isnt vulnerable like the 4.0

    also the front diff is iron so it is a lot tougher than an aluminum housing. not saying the skids arent necessary but

    your rocker panels are the testicles of your truck. any tiny impact and it fuck'n hurts

    Sliders first, then an IFS skid.

    Lots of good companies for sliders...when it comes to skids, ATO is the cream of the crop, budbuilt is good as well. There's really not anyone else making skids right now that I'd run for serious wheeling.

    Ok, I'm going to place an order on a pair of 4x Innovation Sliders as soon as I sell my steps. Anyone running All-Pro skids? I'm looking at an All-Pro IFS skid and a Transmission skid. I figured that would be a solid set up.

    All-pro tranny skid will hang you up...plus I just don't trust All-Pro armor as far as I can piss in the wind.

    i like all-pro's transfer case skid, i've hit it VERY hard with out it budging.

    I think bud's design is better for the ifs skid but the all pro will stand up to some abuse yet.

    Im trying to buy ato but it's tough to wait that long. I've been wanting skids from him for some time now.

    If you want them fast bud built (expensive) or allpro (buy two, you might need a spare)

    dont get all pro, but built and ATO are the way to go
