Sliders and Snow

I have some sliders on the way, and was thinking...

How are they in the winter?, I mean do they get caked up with 50lbs of ice? or does it fall off easy? Anything to consider besides rust?



I obviously wont be needing them during the winter and could easily wait till spring to install them, but it would be nice to prevent some door dings from all the oh so respectful drivers out there.



Experiences??

 

mine cake up with ice, but a rubber mallet takes care of it easily...rustoleaum hammer finish helps with the rust

 

I figured there would be some ice to pound off occasionally.. but any rubbing or anything from it?

 

If at all possible you could throw your mud flaps back on the front if they're off now. that would help. Or you can just kick off the ice whenever you stop.

I've never had a problem with snow and Ice building up really badly. When it does, I just give the slider a kick and it all falls off.
