i was thinking about selling my wry for a tacoma and I was wondering if there are any differences between the 2005 and 2007 tacomas. Is there any mechanical or body differences between the two years?

    They're the same....but I'd look for an 07.

05 was the very first year of the new trucks ( 2nd gen) and I know there were some glitches they had to iron out. Although I can't prove it (nor do I have the time to search for you), there may have been some computer /ECU upgrades and other little things.

I knew a guy who owned an 05 and he had a lot of problems with paint chipping. My 07 has a special plastic protector at the front edge of the bed that the 05's didn't have originally.

Hopefully...if you see any 05's, those glitches were already taken care of by the previous owner either by TSB's or warrantee work. But - you never know for sure.

Synthetic oil/lubes used throughout. NGK Iridium Lazer 100K spark plugs. Rear differential breather extension modification. Toyota front skid plate, roof rack, bed mat, chrome exhaust exhaust. Runs like new!
I have an 05 TRD Sport 4x4, My friend bought and sold his 2007 TRD Off Road Tacoma & already upgraded to the tundra. I didn't see anything different. My 05 runs excellent with 77K on it and I don't think any1 drives their Tacoma as hard as I do mine.
I do keep my vehicle meticulously maintaned and changed oil every 3k until I decided to switch over to all synthetics, now I will go 5K w/synthetic oil. I always let me vehicle get up to operating temperture even when warm out before driving it hard & this vehicle along with all the rest (other models) all seem to run and last longer than an individual w/the same vehicle & tend to run better.
You'll notice in the forums the 05 and 07 have similar problems that the manufacturer knows about but did not change. Just read the forums to save hundreds/thousands of dollars. Good luck.
