+1 on buying a good compass. If you are in a mountain area an altimeter is priceless for land nav. Can save a lot of hiking and allows you to take more of a straight line. Ordered some of the stick lights, they look like they will be useful. Another nice thing for land nav are thumb tac reflectors. You can fit about a hundred of them in a small plastic box. Great for marking routes so you can walk in or out in the dark. Love this thread. It is costing me money, but my pack is improving by the day.

Here's an idea I had, and cheap too.

I currently don't have a CB in my truck (plan for the future) but I keep channel number 6 programmed to my local Emergency Broadcast station. Saves a bit of time having to channel surf while already on the road. Saves time and potentially getting stuck on an already closed route.

I'd like to know as well. The wife needs a light GHB. I can't find a place for reviews on LAPG. That site is definitely bare bones.

I'll get some pics of my GHB as well as the Wifes 72 hour pack (her EDC right now is a Maxpedition Jumbo versapack). We are planning on heading out to the resevior heree when the tems get a little more suitable for camping and are going to live out of them to 3 day to proof the gear. I am currently running a camelbak cloudwalker as my ghb, but have been eyeing a 5.11 COVRT pack to replace it. I also have a few Kelty custom 3 day assault packs that I could switch over to.

Well i'm no expert on packs but i love this one. I have a North Face hiking pack that i paid around $120 for and this bag is soo much more comfortable and seems more durable. It may be a little big for GHB, it's considered a 3 day pack. I'll almost never use my North Face pack now, and i'll probably get another LAPolice gear pack for hiking and camping.

I have 3 of those LAPG bags setup for slightly different uses. They have a upgraded version for sale now too. The bags work ok, for the price I don't think they can be beat.

Did some winter camping last night. Made a last second run with my truck the only thing I added was a tent and a sleeping bag. It got down to 25 degrees so very glad I had my military grade sleeping bag. Making a fire sucked because it's rain for the past 2 days.

It is a little pricey. For that price I would look for an older Landcruiser IMO.

I can fix that engine with a screwdriver and some bubblegum. It has 4wheel disc brakes stock. Did you see what that guy did to upgrade the suspension? ARB lockers, sliders, tent, Thule rack, etc. If it were a diesel I'd be on a plane to Portland. In the case of a zombie apocalypse, I would drive the Toyota home and bust this thing out of my underground bomb shelter.

What he is trying to say is that the guy is trying to get his money back out. No doubt it is a bad ass rig that I would love to have, but for $10,000 it is a little expensive.
