How many TPMS Sensors could be assigned to each truck

 

Depending on the year of the truck anywhere between 4 and 5. The early models just had them in the 4 running tires. The newer vehicles have them in the spare as well. I have an 07 and I have 5.

 

Mine has 5 its an 08

 

Why are you asking? You can reassign the sensors by resetting them in close proximity. Like if you have two sets of wheels and both sets have sensors...

 

Have you done this?? I was under the impression that you can get one set programmed into the truck but to swap to another set you need them programmed into the truck @ the dealer. The reset button just resets the pressure I thought.

This is how it is:

2005-None
2006-2008-5
2009- 4 or 5 depending on prod date
2010-2011- 4

Our trucks can only have 1 set programmed at a time. If you need others programmed (like snow tires or just an extra set) you need to go to the dealer and have it done with the Techstream.

 

Now that you mention it, you may need the tool. I worked at discount tire for 6 years and we had the tool there. You can always have a discount resent the new sensors for you for free most of the time.

I think it's Chevy you can just swap and reset...

It's been awhile since I've worked at discount and I just took the sensors out of my wheels, so I don't worry Bout it and deal with the light.

Discount can do it. I actually talked to them yesterday about replacing mine I damaged. Its 30 bucks installed and programmed. I'm going in Friday to have it done.

 

For the record, the cost should be associated with dismounting remounting and balancing the wheel, not programming...

 

I'm sure that's what they meant, I just took it as programming since we were talking about it.
