Tailgate net as a cargo divider.

What I really missed from my Chevy's were the vertical notches built into the factory bed liners to put in cargo dividers. The rear one was perfectly positioned to create a large cargo area just deep enough for you to be able to reach everything without lifting the tonneau cover. Just cut a 2x10 to fit and you were set to go. On the Taco no such convenience. Oh you could use the Toyota divider for big bucks or the tailgate extender. I went with the tailgate extender and was very disappointed by the small amount of space left, you lose 4 inches on each side and the area the extender leaves is not deep enough for many of my loads. Then there is the problem of where to put it when you want the whole space. So I finally hit on using a generic tailgate net as a divider. It worked perfectly mounted up just behind the wheel wells it created a large cargo area that was completely accessible with the tonneau closed. Best yet no drilling and easy to stow when you need the whole bed. I have hauled several loads now and I think it’s the best divider solution and it costs about 25 bucks!

To mount just use the lower forward screws on the storage boxes for the bottom mount and the drain slots that happen to be perfectly placed in the rail for the top (I looped some zip ties in the slots to make it easier to run the straps). Tomorrow I'm going to stop at the hardware store and buy two small carabineers to mount the top straps to the zip ties to make it quicker to drop the net for big loads.

Just bought one...how has it been holding up?? Seems like a much cheaper alternative to the bed divider

 

This is a great idea, but considering I lost my bed rails to the BakFlip bed cover, I no longer have them. I need a cover and still trying to figure out a method to have some sort of divider like that.

Just finished installing my Bully net. Picked it up at Autozone for $20. I installed it up near the cab.

I drilled two holes just in in the bed, just in front of the wheel bumps to secure the bottom with the included hardware and used the slideable cargo hooks to secure the top. Awesome idea!

 

Old thread, but I had to give it a bump to say THANK YOU. This came up in my searches. I want a divider but I refuse to spend that much money on those other dividers. I have a hard tonneau cover and wanted something soft/cheap that I could easily remove and fold up for larger loads.
