Crooked Steering Wheel after 'light' 4 wheeling

I went snow'wheeling this weekend and had to throw Paco in 4Lo and engage the rear locker to get up the trail. As there was 2-3 feet of snow, I had to keep my momentum up- which means that I hit some rocks and a few ruts under 10 mph. Nothing that grabbed my attention though.

Went I got back down the trail, I dis-engaged the locker and put her back in 2wd. Hopped on the highway and realized that the steering wheel is crooked (by about 1/4 turn to the right). The alignment and drive feels unchanged- it's just the steering wheel that is off.

It's an 05 with 77k miles. The truck has had very slight vibes when turning to the right at highway speeds (rythmic verr-verrr-verrr until straightned- like a rumblestrip) since the day I bought it. I had it aligned at Firestone so I can go back anytime (for free!!) and get it straightened out- but I would like to know they why's and how's of this issue.

As crooked stuff drives me absolutely bat-shit , is there anything that can be done to stop this in the future or a mod that will toughen that sumbich up??

any time you hit a bump it gradually misaligns the steering, i dont think theres anything you can do to stop it, just have it realigned

Thats what I'm talking about PSU Taco85!!! Things do not change for no reason, with autos, this makes total sense as to why a small bump would knock the steering wheel so far off.

Is it a PITA to swap said cam out if it is frozen to the LCA??

Toe is probably knocked out of alignment.

Incorrect. You can. Mine are seized and my shit drives just fine. You just can't adjust the caster, if I remember correctly. I've had two alignments since I learned my are seized and no issues.

 

ive had that happen to me. hit a bump at wrong angle, threw off steering wheel but truck drove straight. so i just repositioned the steering wheel. fixed.
