    I didn't realize it was a 4x4 - that's a damn good price.

I dont think you can even find a used 2009-10 for that cheap.

Hell Ive seen trucks identicle to mine but with more miles going for 26-28...and thats more than what I paid new...

    our trucks appreciate in value

Thanks everyone for the support! I'm the OP.

Still thinking about things and the dealer manager called today to see what was going on / what they could do. I'll keep you all posted.

In the meantime, awesome community here. Enjoying the feedback and hearing stories from everyone. Also, for clarification, they didn't print up the contract, etc. Just had all numbers lined up and ready to go to the finance room to start putting things together / signing away. The price I was / am at was in essence what I got through TrueCar.com so there are some deals to be had on the 2011's.

Thanks again for all of your insight! :)

tell them to throw in a set of all weather mats and sign away. (if you can afford a new truck)

If I could have gotten a 4x4 at that price when I got mine I would have been stoked! instead I settled on a prerunner

I got much love for prerunners. Both of my Tacos were PreRunners and never failed me. :)

Very true! I could sell my truck for at least several grand more than I paid for it.

TrueCar.com is awesome - I used Overstock.com (pretty much the same thing) and got a smoking deal on my 2011 PreRunner TRD Off-Road.

I'm perfectly fine with my PreRunner as I haven't had a single use for 4x4 yet, but that is a damn good price for a 4x4.

I stared at the dotted line for about 10 minutes that day. I was giving up what is likely the most reliable car Honda ever made (GD3 5MT Fit made in Japan) that I could get 45 mpg out of, that had all the amenities you could possibly get in a small car, that could haul as much as some trucks (I had a 6' pantry, a kitchen cabinet, an ottoman, a storage rack, a stool, and about 5 boxes in there at ONE time).

Darn thing had 4.5" of ground clearance. Unfortunately white crap falls in my state more than 4.5" deep many times between turkey day and groundhog day. I had the newest, most reliable, most comfortable, cheapest-to-operate car of all my buds and 3 months out of the year I had to bum rides. Turned the truck into a no brainer.

I'd say to the OP think on it and make your decision. I waited a week before I pulled the trigger myself, although I decided on a different truck than I'd originally considered.

I didn't say anything about the value of the time.

What I'm saying is that in the grand scheme of a $30,000+ deal, the salesperson's time isn't really that significant as a cost to them. And, after all, the buyers are out that time as well.

Deals fall through all the time for a bunch of reasons. Any good salesperson knows that's one of the risks. Don't ever feel bad for walking away from a deal you aren't happy with.

    - OP, good for you to have the strength to walk out. I could give a shit about if the guys pissed you'll be the one making the payments on a vehicle you're not 100% sold on, and that would suck.

I didn't have remorse about a Prerunner until this site. Then I rethought my "needs" and I purchased a truck that I can afford and suites me just fine. Kudos, to the guys that can drop 25-30k on a truck outfit it and offroad the crap out of it.

i walked out of a deal on a Tacoma a few months ago. i told the sales guy i would go to finance and see if we could knock out a deal. we were off by over $1,000 and i didn't want to close so i walked. the salesman was about to cry and i could see the sales manager go completely red. the finance manager says to me when i would not agree to let him draw up the paperwork, 'Oh, your're not closed yet'. i was like, yeah asshole, i'm not closed until i sign. everybody pissed at me and this makes me hate dealership antics even more. what a classy profession to prey on whoever you can...

If you were already in the finance office talking with the finance manager, that probably means they were pretty far into the deal.

I always do ALL of my negotiations before I get to the dealer. Then I walk in, hand them my ID and Driver's License and drink a few of their drinks while I wait.

When I bought my 2011, I was at the dealership for 15 minutes. It was great.

Again, not trying to knock salesman I understand they have to make a living but at the same time... so do I. Just stick to your guns, it's all a game.

I made the dealers suffer for a week on me. Ended up 12.5 out the door on my 5 lug access cab with 52000 miles and heckled my payments to 110 a month :p traded in my 04 gt mustang vert and never looked back!

Every once in a while, I miss the fun of my old MR2 or Wrangler I sold to by my Tacoma but the pain fades and this truck has been the best vehicle I've owned. I have walked out of dealerships many times though, so don't feel bad...they'd do the same to you in a heartbeat.

I *just* traded my BMW 330Ci with the sport package on a 4x4 sport DC with everything. I miss the leather and speed already. But I love the Entune system, it integrates sooooo much better with an iPhone than the BMW radios. I also love that it streams my music via Bluetooth. Totally awesome. My only advice, as a former BMW owner, is get your taco with every available bell and whistle and you will grow to love it quickly.
