Question why buy trd if you intend to upgrade

Just wondering why people buy trd off road tacomas when they intend to upgrade the suspension. Why not save money and buy an sr5 4x4 instead of a Trd 4x4. Sure the trd has a better suspension in the usa but if you plan to replace the suspension anyway why waste money on a trd. I know the off road has a locker but you can also add an aftermarket one. The only thing you won't get is a track but to compensate for that one can add in a front locker to. I guess what I am saying is what's the point of paying for things like suspension which you plan to eventually upgrade. However if you plan to drive stock the trd is a good choice.

Repost.

The TRD OR package has a locker and ATRAC. If you don't want to mess with the drivetrain the TRD OR is the best offroad right out of the box.

Search for once will you?

I did mainly because of the seats. Much more comfortable than the SR5, imo. Then the looks of the Sport come in 2nd.

"Upgraded" suspension isn't the only thing the TRD has over the SR5`

I wanted nicer seats, and floormats that say TRD on them.

Common misconception. The ring gears are actually all the same size, the difference is in the carrier itself and the axle housing and there are aftermarket lockers available for both rear ends

so any sr5 non trd has a larger rear end that can be upgraded with out putting in a different rear axle? Are the bigger rear ends more stronger and durable on the sr5s

The offroad is the only one with the slightly smaller axle. Even then the 8.4 just has larger carrier bearings. The ring gear isn't larger. All non TRD OR models have the same axle.

I also say get the SR5 if your planning on upgrading. You'll obviously be replacing the suspension, but you can also get aftermarkert lockers wich are usually more reliable than the e-locker anyway.....

Or (If you like hood scoops and matching paint) get the Sport and toss in a suspension and some lockers....

I've got the TRD Off-Road now, but I'd get an SR5 if I could do it over again.
