I have an 09 tacoma with traction contol. Does anyone know how to permanatly turn this off? My truck is lifted 4" and any small curvey road sets this off. It is dangerious! I hate it and have a new born due in a couple months. Its just not safe. The computer thinks one wheel is slipping so it automaticly locks up the opposite wheel to adjust the slip.(thats not happening). I need a fix quick. I live in Oregon, lots of rain and curvey roads. Not to mention if there was ice on the road this thing is going to slide itself right off the road

With the truck stationary , push and hold in the VSC ( car with squiggly lines ) button for about 5 seconds .

This will greatly reduce the sensitivity but it still lurks in the background .

To turn it off completely look into Crom's ABS / VSC bypass threads

With a lift, you need your VSC and ABS recalibrated at the dealer so that this won't happen.

If you read your manual, if you are at a complete stop, press and hold the traction control button for 5 sec to turn off the traction control and ALSD. The VSC will still lurk in the backgroud, but at a less sensitivity.

thanks i found some good info on vsc issues. recalbrating dosen,t seem to work either. i dont think anyone has found a solid fix yet. thinkin about unpluging the wheel sencer. i know this will also diable abs but its got to be alot safer than getting pulled into oncomming trafic.

Since VSC is starting to be reported as the most lifesaving safety component to be installed on vehicles since the seatbelt, and you have a baby on the way, perhaps you ought to consider restoring the truck to stock ride height and making sure the VSC operates as it should.

I'm thinking of it as, transport baby with 4" lift and the electronic safety mechanisms (VSC, ABS) disabled, or transport baby with stock height and all safety features enabled. Might not be ideal for your off road ability or appearance, but might be better for safety for your baby.

Thanks to all for the advice. Its of to the dealership for recalabrating. Someone mentioned maybe i should return it to stock to safely transport my baby. I definatly would if i have exausted ALL options.. However this should not be the case since my lift is not extreme. Lots of 2nd gen tacos in my area have simalar lifts and are not skiding into oncomeing lanes. Besides I have you guys in my corner to help me resolve these issues..... Right??

05-08 Tacomas don't have VSC , I don't think disabling the VSC in your truck makes it any less safe than an '08 .

I hate to be a downer, but....... xN

But if that isn't an option, re-calibrate, or maybe go with a less intense lift.

btw, if you do go stock, I call dibs on your rims :D

While absolutely true , the steering angle is only one factor , there is also the yaw rate sensor(s) .
