I PlastiDipped, but after a few months the edges of the letters are wearing off. I will probably end up taking the PlastiDip off and painting them properly.

I feel you should Plastidip them to start and see of you like them. After a few months if you do remove the emblems and Plastidip and spray them.

Spray painted mine matte black. Came out a lot better then plastic dip. Plastic diped my interior (silver consol/dash) going to take off and paint matte black to match dash.

Well.....I attempted the plastidip today. I put on 1 coat, let it dry 4 hours, another coat and another 4 hours and a third coat and let it dry 4 hours.....after a completely wasted day and $5.00 wasted on plastidip, I am going to resort to having them painted. After the last coat dried i took an exacto knife and lighty cut around the emblem without scratching the paint. I then started to peel the excess off the truck and on every freakin emblem if I barely touched them the plastidip started to come off. So now, I have plastidip on the truck and the emblems. Going to be taking them off tomorrow and painting them. I now vote paint.

I am going to take them off and see if I like it for a few days. I really liked the look of them black for the short time they were black.

yea you did it all wrong, waiting 4 hours is not needed, its dries instantly. after you put the third coat off you should of started to remove the extra then, but hey take a step back and if you like the black on it now then paint them. so not all was lost

I liked the black look and I have already taken the emblems off. I am going to have them and the lower valence of the front bumper line x'd.

I am going to color match it silver streak. Then the only chrome will be the front grille but that will be taken care of when my :homer: :taco: grille comes in.

Or... you could go to your local Toyota dealer and order the emblems in any color that Tacomas are made.... And they come with the adhesive. Why go through all this work and risk having it not last forever when you can buy them....

I literally just left my local Toyota dealership (Modern Toyota) and they told me they could only get the emblems in chrome and that the only way they could get the FJ front emblem was for me to purchase the entire front grille....

Nope they are full of crap. The emblems come color matched on the PreRunner (thats what they told me) and I got mine metallic black. They are not painted, the plastic is the color.

I think they were $34 each or something around that for the "Tacoma" ones for the front doors. I never asked about the Toyota logo one on the grill.

Well, I ended up painting them last night with a bed liner spray from Advance Auto. Let them dry overnight and put on some 3M double sided tape and put them on the truck this morning. They look pretty good. Also painted the lower valence of the front bumper with the same spray.

I removed my badges and reinstalled a couple of them on the tailgate. I used an adhesion promoter spray (can't remember which brand) and then painted with Krylon Fusion. That was 2 years ago and they still look as good as the day I sprayed them.
