EDIT: For those of you just reading this post for the first time. I no longer have this truck. I had to get something that would haul 4-5 people, so I got a Double Cab. I still think that this truck was amazing!

So, for those of you that don't know. My wife and are moved to San Antonio form Houston. Our family helped us get a house in San Antonio since we can't afford to have two homes at once, and WE STILL HAVEN'T SOLD OUR BEAUTIFUL HOME IN HOUSTON!!!

    ...I'm over it...

In any case, right now we are so strapped for cash that we can't even get a moving van. TACOMA TO THE RESCUE!!!

We decided to haul as much as we could in the Tacoma and get it to our new house. The cab was FULLY LOADED...

    IMG_0940_362928383c20e0c541b09c3c5eca63404f16421e.jpg

The bed was "sorta" loaded up...

    IMG_0941_601f37e43a76396e77df5042c79b1f8c890cea40.jpg

The trailer totalled out at about 4000lbs!!!

    IMG_0944_dcc1968638007047812bc9945ffde34e0a6007ea.jpg

...and we were still able to do 65-70 MPH down the highway and average 16 MPG. That is my Tacoma!

Yep, that is my little grill. It is a good thing that I brought it too. We had grilled chicken, onions, zuchini, and squash last night. It was so good too. :hungry:

    Gotta eat, ya know. :D

Yeah, we won't be able to move anything else until my house in Houston sells. We are trying to keep it furnished so that it looks liveable. That is supposed to help sell a house. Believe me - we need all the help we can get right now.

Actually, I do. Add to that one week of nothing but rain in Houston, and "voila" great looking lawn. ;)

Now, I just wish the back looked like that. It has some kind of bug infestation that is killing all my grass. I do mean KILL. That doesn't help you sell a house...

V-6 rules, good balance between power and economy. 4 bangers save gas but V-6's haul serious cargo......i bet i could get a 4.7 v-8 to fit my Tacoma if i wanted to get radical....lol

eh... We aren't talking about the V6. Everyone already knows that the Toyota V6 is an awesome engine. This thread is about what the 4 cylinders can do.

How many people thought - "...oh, I can tow 4,000 lbs behind a 2.7L. No problem!"? Not me. I had to learn the hard way. ;)

Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to have had a V6, but I haul once in a blue moon. I need the MPG, and the 2.7L has more power than you realize. In the past 6 months I have put 17,000 miles on my truck, and that is without any "major" road trips. 24-25 MPG helps out a bunch.

Now, if Toyota wants me to pilot a 3.0L D4D Tacoma/Hilux down the road, I won't complain! :D

Ya know, I have no idea. They were an upgrade option that came with my truck. I was just going to get steelies and upgrade later, but they didn't have a "stripped down" version of the truck I wanted. So, they gave me this one for the "stripped down" price. I wasn't going to complain.

Hey, welcome to SA 007! What part of the city are you now in? I'm on the far north side between 281 and 35, north of 1604. Give a shout if you need help with moving in.
    Later...

Cool. My boss lives over in that area.

Thanks for the offer! Right now I am as moved as I am going to get. We are trying to keep the house in Houston furnished so that it looks more appealing. Still no bites on it.
    :(

I work just off of 281 and 1604 on Sonterra, but I live up in Boerne. We found a quaint little home up there for really cheap. Right now all my energy is focused on getting that house "fixed up" (it definitely needs some work). ;)

So how long have you lived in San Antonio?

Been here for a few years, now. Moved from Corpus Christi back in '03 and had my house built in what used to "the sticks" two years ago. Developers have really had a field day around here. More and more of the Hill Country is turning into suburbia on a daily basis. Just what the Taco needs...another Starbucks to drive to. LOL!!!
Take care and, again, welcome to SA...
